I am very excited to be revealing more of the NEW MUA
Professional Palette! This palette definitely lives up to the hype over the
weekend of us revealing it on our Facebook page. We can finally reveal the collectable limited
edition palette which is called ‘GOING FOR GOLD’ in ready for the Olympics held
in London this year! Oh yes, we all like to get our patriotism on sometimes, MUA
Towers has gone British mad this time!
This is a great way
to celebrate the Olympics with your own going for gold eye shadows in nude warm
gold’s, to bright yellows mixed with stunning matte slate greys! And what is
even more exciting is the design of the palette is square eye shadows! I just love this- what do you think of this
design do you prefer it to the original circle eye shadows? I would love to
know your thoughts. This palette makes
me feel proud to be British and I can’t wait to show you eye looks with it.
All shades from going gold are a mix of shimmers and mattes like
the original MUA eye shadow palettes however this time there are 10 shades then
the normal 12 shade palettes. While I
imagine one might find this product incredibly useful now that the simultaneous
gold-silver eye shadow look is "in", I some of you might be worried
about some of the shades being too bright in your make-up bags however these
are practical/wearable shades for an everyday look as well as teaming up with a
smoky eye for a glamorous night out around the Olympic time. Can’t wait till
you get your hands on MUA’s NEW Going for Gold Palette? Well we are giving you the chance to *WIN*
this palette, to take part in the competition all you have to do is follow this
blog via Google Friend Connect and at the bottom of my blog post, tell me what GOING
FOR GOLD Eye make-up look you would
create for the Olympics with this NEW Palette. The best comment will be picked
and the winner be announced on the 4th July 2012. Competition closes midnight
on the 3rd July 2012.
THIS NOW APPLIES TO ALL RESIDENTS!
First row of swatches

Second row of swatches
Application:
I am so excited about the shades and pigmentation of these colours
in this palette especially as it’s so hard for me to find real yellow gold
shades with a fantastic pay off! So again MUA have done me proud as usual and all
shades in this palette are buttery, smooth and a just glide so easily onto my
eyelids! Shade 5 is just my favourite out of this palette- It’s just a perfect
bright yellow gold, actually don’t think I have ever tried an eye shadow this
shade before and trust me I have many, many eye shadow colours in my make-up
collection. I will be wearing this palette all throughout the Olympics now.
Wear:
Using a the MUA primer will provide a good solid 8-9 hours
of wear and this also brings out the pigments even stronger than they actually
are!
When can I purchase GOING FOR GOLD?
This palette will be available in selected Superdrug stores
from the 4th July 2012 and soon to be available online on Superdrug
and on MUA Store. We will be announcing this date on Facebook/Twitter pages so
do keep an eye out. It could be sooner than you think MUA Fans!
Don’t forget to enter our competition to WIN this amazing NEW Palette.
Also keep an eye out for eye make-up looks I will be creating with GOING FOR
GOLD.

i'd create a nice goldy shimmery summer look with this palette using shade one as my base then getting shade 8 on my outter corner taking it in into the crease blending it in then using shade 7 on the inner corners bringing it in to blend with shade 8 :)
ReplyDeleteshade no 10 is amazing!! I really 'need' to win this!xx
ReplyDeletewas hoping there would have been something a little different but the colours do look amazing so gonna have to get it when its out! :)
ReplyDeleteI would try and create a neutral look in the shape of the union jack flag- a challenge but i think it would look great and very british :D xx
ReplyDeletei would create an olympic look, with silver in inner corners of the eyes, for a nice sparkle. then, i would put gold on the lids, and bronze on the lower lids. some black and dark gray on the outter corners, and brow bone. it would be a look worth of gold, silver and bronze!
ReplyDeletereally great shades!! would love to see some looks with this palette!!!
ReplyDeletehttp://kellinasthoughts.blogspot.com/
This palette looks amazing! I'd create a gorgeous shimmery gold eye with a dark crease, to represent all the gold medals Britain will be winning this year! :p xx
ReplyDeletehttp://thebeautyfiend13.blogspot.co.uk
Hmm, I probably would have prefered the palette half neutral, half brighter colours for those with a more colourful taste... however the colours look amazing.
ReplyDeleteDue to the amazing pigmentation of the gold, I would create a golden smokey eyes with silver in the inner corners then a 'Arabic'- styled cat eye using MUA extreme liner pen!
A gold and black smokey eye. x
ReplyDeleteI would start off with the MUA eye primer and then use shade 1 all over the lids. I would then use shade 5 on top of that for a summery look, with shade 10 in the crease for a more intense look. Then I would put shade 4 in the inner corners to brighten the eyes, and finish the look with a slick of MUA liquid eyeliner and lashings of mascara. :-)
ReplyDeleteI would deffo use my MUA Professional Eye Primer because it's the only product in the entire makeup world that doesn't make my eyelids more oily!! THEN, I would use shade 1 from the corner of my eyes until half way across the eyelids, at which point I would blend it in with shade 9, which would carry on across my eyelids. Then I would use the MUA Extreme Felt Liner Black to line my eyes and then lashings of the MUA Extreme Curl Mascara - love it!! Then I definitely would have my Game Face on in time for the Olympics. xXx
ReplyDeleteFor the look I would get shade 7 and put it all over my lid, then get shade 1 for my crease line, and to finish a little of Shade 4 for the inner corner of my eye. I would love to win this palette as there are some neutral colours, but not so much that you cant use them for a evening out!
ReplyDeleteEmail: jadepalmer9@aol.com
I would put shade 10 on the entire lide to give a bit of shimmer to my day, then I'll apply #5 into the inner corner to bright it up a bit & I'll define the crease with mix of #9 and #3
ReplyDeleteMy everyday make up is always pale eye-base and flicked black eyeliner but I'd really like to try experimenting with colour whilst still keeping with my vintage-y/rockabilly roots. I'd quite like to try using 2 or 10 wet as eyeliner with some of the paler golds as a base.
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed!
Love,
Mrs D x
Recently I have put myself on a wispa gold diet. Working at Superdrug I blame the company for this addiction, so when I saw this palette, all I thought was, wow, i'm going to make myself look like a walking wispa gold so i can stop eating them, and therefore not put on any more weight. Therefore, if you sent me this you'd be doing me a massive favour, jus' sayin'.
ReplyDeletewww.sweetlikecinnamonblog.blogspot.com
I'd create a smokey eye with lots of the first gold eyeshadow :D
ReplyDeleteFrancesca
francivusk at hotmail dot it
I would keep it bright with a hint of darker grey in the crease. Yellow gold for the base (wet) blended soft yellow in the crease bringing up towards the brow. Light color for the brow highlight. Darker grey just in the crease in outer v of the eye. light grey fro the inner corner of the eye bringing that into a wet liner half way of the under liner of the eye. the rest of the under liner yellow gold (wet). Wet the darker grey color with a small liner brush and line the top of the lash line half way to the outer lash line only. had mascara and falsies :)
ReplyDeleteI love the shades in this palette, as im into greys at the moment and golds look fabulous with my green eyes!
ReplyDeleteI would create a Golden Smokey Eye. First I would take MUA's eye primer, and apply it all over my lid and slightly under my lower lash line and blend it in. Then I would take shade 7, and apply it all over my lid. Then taking shade 8, I would define my crease. I would then use shade 1 as a highlight for my inner corner and under my brows. Finially I would take a MUA mascara to help give my lashes a boast to complete the look :)
For a really big party look i would put Shade 6 over my eyelid and then put Shade 10 in the crease and blend it. Then i would put a small dot in the corner of my eye (near my nose) in Shade 1 just to make it a tiny bit bigger... And then to give it a bit more sparkle put Shade 4 when i put Shade 6 and then blend everything in to my hearts content! xx
ReplyDeleteWow!! I love this palette, the colours are gorgeous. I would use it in summer nights here in Italy..it could be really beautiful with a tanned skin :D
ReplyDeleteI would put shade 7 and 8 on my lid, shade 9 under my lower lashes, shade 5 along my crease to really open out the eyes, and I would use shade 1 as a highlighter under my brow bone!
ReplyDeleteif I had this eyeshadow palette, I definitely would've tried to make a distinct and interesting look. something like this https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=346895478683956&set=a.302235096483328.75344.302130433160461&type=3&theater . I Would probably use this eyeshadow 2,3,5,7,10 ,from mua palette!!!!

I would use all colours of gold on a summers night and lots of mascara and finish with mua lipstick and bronzer .

My GOING FOR GOLD eye make-up look that I would create for the Olympics with this new palette would be to literally 'go for gold' and focus mainly on the gold eyeshadows on my eyelid and use that to create my statement feature. Another idea would be to create an ombre style eye look forming a gradual spectrum of bronze to silver and then to gold from the inner corner to outer lid; this would resemble the hardship of each athlete that are aiming for the gold but have to get through each stage such as the bronze and silver. :)
ReplyDeleteI would go for combining gold, bronze and silver, representing the spirit and the three possible Olimpic medals.
ReplyDeleteIn any combination possible, but maybe the gold on the lid representing the triumph, silver on the crease and bronze on both the corner of the eye and the tearduct to add some dimension and depth to the look.
Bronze-gold-bronze line on the lower lashline to follow the pattern above and black mascara.
Congratulations on winning the MUA competition!! Please email me on karla.powell@fbbeauty.co.uk so I can get your address.
DeleteThanks.

I would choose a combination between gold, orange, and black for an arabic make-up that would make my eyes look deeper
ReplyDeleteI would start off with the MUA eye primer and then I will divide vertically the eye in three part and I colour the internal part of the eyes with shade 5,the middle with shade 4 and the external with shade 9 (like the three olimpic medals). Then I would put shade 7 in the inner corners and under the eyebrows to brighten the eyes, and finish the look with Mua liquid black eyeliner and lashings of black mascara. hugs and kisses from Italy!
ReplyDeleteI love this palette, the colours are gorgeous. I would use it in summer nights here in pakistan :) really wanna win as my mum birthday on 17th july .. imissu650@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteI think shade 5 (the intense true gold) would make a mesmerising eye liner (would work well with a drop of water or shadow sealer on a thin brush) above the upper lashes - finished with a thin black flick just on the lash line.
ReplyDeleteWow, what a lovely complementary palette! Gorgeous selection of colours! I would use 1,7, 9 for a lovely day - smokey eye look, with liquid liner and a good coating of mascara. I think 7 would really make my green eyes pop!
ReplyDeleteI would definitely use some of the gold/bronze colours in this palette. I have blue eyes, so they would make my eyes POP! & besides, we want to win some gold medals in the Olympic games don't we?
ReplyDeleteI would start off with shade 1, on the inner third of my lid, then I would Put shade 7 in the middle, and shade 8 on the outer half, and my crease. Then I'd add some of number 9 to deepen the look, and put it under my eyes. i would use a brown pencil liner and wear black mascara. Lipstick in 'Bare' and a clear lipgloss! :)
i would like to create a very fashionable gold make up!
ReplyDeleteevery day and every night with this palette i can create some different looks!
I would create a great look with shade 10, 4 and 6.. like a metal smokey eye look :)
ReplyDeleteFor me I would start with shade 6 in the inner corner just a tenth of the way out I would use shade 10, I would then use shade 5 and start from a quarter of the way in from the outer eye and take this diagonally outwards. after blending well I'd use the MUA liquid eyeliner on the eyelid I would do a long winged stretch meeting where I have left off with shade 5. I would then take shade 5 again n highlight under my waterline to mide way and finish of highlighting the rest of the eye with shade 10 :)
ReplyDeleteI would create an arab smokey eye cut crease look using this palette.
ReplyDeleteCannot wait for this release!
my email address is iwillmakeadifference[at]live[dot]co[dot]uk
Id have to say id use the golds, lighter golds over the lid with darker golds in the crease. Id be aiming to create a summering metalic shimmering eye suitable for prehaps a night out. This palettte looks great , looking forward to trying it out.
ReplyDeleteHandfullofdaisys@blogspot.co.uk
I would create my winning look with a starting block of smoky grey (6),getting into my stride with a lively burst of bronze (3), completing the look with a finishing line of the brightest gold (5). Although I'd like to join the winning circle, I do prefer the square shadows.
ReplyDeleteFollowing with GFC as Happyfox.
I would create a dark smoky look, with a pop of the strong gold on the inner corner :)
ReplyDeleteI'd create a dark smoky look with the black/grey shades, with a pop of strong gold on the inner corner

sexy golden smokey w/ a black winged eyeliner.
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful colours!!!!
ReplyDeleteI,m not verry in to glittery things do but I can work a finer look cause I have big brown eyes so they get already much attention on there own. I would use shade 1 to put on the lid and the second shade in the crease and blend in a little of shade 9 I could use a fine gold on the inner corner and under the waterline to have a more evening look if I blend a little Ayer on my brush to let everything sparkle a bit more....and o would use black mascara and a khol line half way on the waterline.also I would take a quick tap on my blush brush and dip it in shade 7 and blend it with a peachy colored blush ...
ReplyDeletei am already a loyal follower, i cannot wait to get this prouct as I love the shimmery golds, i would use this for the olympics and would use silver gold and bronze to signify the medals, but obviously team GB will only be winning gold!!!
ReplyDelete<3 <3 <3
ReplyDeleteThanks for the amazing giveaway, create a gold summery eye look or a smokey day night look, this palette looks amazing hope I win :)
ReplyDeletei just thought do all the colours of the olympics circle in a look or do colours of the medals, do a look of with the colours of our flag to show our support of our country, gold look to show us as champions :)
ReplyDeleteI'd create a glamorous gold look to show my patriotism towards the Olympics xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteI'd want to encompass everything the Olympic Games are about! So Id try to create sports chic look which is natural & fresh with a hint of inner glow.Firstly, Id apply number "1" all over my eye lids & number "9" on my outter eye corner for the smokey effect which would be followed by number "2" placed on my top &bottom lashline (using an angled brush) to create the eyeliner effect the top line would be extended (as eyeliner is) to create the cat eye. On the inner eye rims Id place number "4" for a little sparkle which would also open up my eyes & to highlight my browbone arch id use number "6" (Im in love with this shade) to top it all of Id use MUA Eyeliner in "Snow White" for my waterline to create that "healthy sports chick" eye makeup. Ps most likely all Id need now is my all time fav MUA lipstick in "SHADE 14-BARE".
ReplyDeleteThis Palette is beautiful! I think I need shade three in my life, I'm also quite intrigued by shade five - bold colours tend to scare me - but this looks totally wearable! I think I'd love to try a look with shades one, seven and three together and pair it with your lipstick in bare.
ReplyDeletesummersbeautyonabudget.blogspot.co.uk/2012/06/new-mua-going-for-gold-palette.html
I would create a look that would show how the participants get rewarded for their success in the sport they are competing in. I'd use 5, 4 and 9 to symbolize each of the medals - 5 = Gold, 10 = Silver and 9 = Bronze. The shimmer effect adds to the "metal likeness" of the medal.
ReplyDeleteI'd start by working from inside to out I'd apply 7 in the inner corner and then continue to work my way out using 8 and then blend it into the gorgeous staple gold of number 5. In the crease I would use the same technique and work from inside to out first using number 1 blending it into 3 and then again popping the intensity of the staple Bronze colour 9. Using the silver shades just over the corner crease I would blend 6, 4 and using 10 as the finishing colour in the crease create a smokey effect.
I would then finish the look by using number 2 to line my bottom lash line hence defining the lash line. I'd add mascara and liquid liner to my top lid.
my GFC is beautybecca
ReplyDeleteI'd use the gorgeous gold colours in the along the lash line and in the crease and use a lighter colour like 1 from the crease the eye brow to blend out and then use a liquid black liner along the lash line to make my eyes look bigger :D
gfc follower :) i would use shade 5 (the bright yellow) all over the lid on holiday in the evening for a bright pop of colour teamed with an otherwise natural make-up look :)

I would use the palette to create looks for me and 2 friends to celebrate the Olympics!! I would theme them as gold, silver and bronze!!!
ReplyDeleteGold: 5,7 and 8. I would use 5 all over the lid for a strong pop of gold, higlighting with the 7 and 8 and using them on the cheekbones and cupids bow!
Silver:
2, 4,6 and 10. I would use these gunmetal silver colours to create a smokey eye, using 10 to contour the eye and keep the look strong. I would also apply a little to higlight the cheekbones and the cupids bow.
Bronze:
1 and 9. I would apply 9 all over the lid and and use 1 on the brown bone to create a bronzed look. I would finish with the black 3in1 contour eyeliner on the lower rims and 9 smudged below for a smokey bronzed look. I would mix a little of 9 and 1 and dust over the cheeks for a glowing bronzed look :)

In light of all the excitement surrounding the upcoming 2012 Olympics, I'd create a stellar "winning" look incorporating gold, silver and bronze because going for the gold is everyone's ambition but everyone is still a winner.
ReplyDeleteLook:
Use shades 7,8 and 9 graduating from the inner lid to the outer corner underlining it with shade 10 (lower lash line) and shade 4 (bright silver) in the tear duct for a pop.

i would, use this palette to create olympic torch flames effect, starting from the outer corner i would use a darker shade to create the base effect and moving along the eye lid i would use combined bright gold and the sheer gold in swoops of colour to look like the flame of the olympic torch. i would use a liquid mua liner underneath to create a soft but bold curved line just like the markings on the olympic running track also making the eye stand out, then add the new mua mascara to give long lashes like the arms streching on an olympic swimmer! just my little idea MUA
ReplyDeletehope you like xxx
I would create a transitional eye look, incorporating the main lightest, as well as darkest shades, swept across the eye, representing the Olympic Torch. I think this would look perfect! Wearable, as well as very much different!
ReplyDeletexxx
I'd use the #1 colour in the internal corner of the eye, #5 all over the eyelid #9 on the external corner and on the angle of the eye smoothing it to the higher part and at the end i'd use the eyeshadow #2 with shaped eyebrush to border my upper and lower eyelashes

I'd use one of the yellow-gold shades in the inner corner, then a bronzey shade in the centre which smokes out into a silver/gunmetal shade which I would then repeat on the lower lashes! I think this would look amazing and I can't wait to get my hands on this pallette to try it out!

Id use shades 3 and 7 to create a smokey eye look, then use shade 10 to shape the outer corner into a point, so that it gives it a more edgy/punk look! I love the look of this palette...!
ReplyDeletei'd used 6 on the lid and 10 in the crease and lower lashline to create the ultimate going out smokey eye!
ReplyDeletedressingtabledelights@hotmail.co.uk <3
First thing I'd do after priming my eyes would be apply shade 3 in the crease with a blending brush (I like to add crease colour first) then adding 9 on the lid with a shading brush. Then, shade 7 would be my inner corner/tear duck highlight with a pencil brush. Shade 4 would go as a brow highlight with a fluffy brush and then shade 10 with an angled brush as eyeliner on the top lashline. To finish off, shade 5 would go on the lower lashline to add a little extra pop :)
ReplyDeleteI'd love to win because this palette looks awesome ^_^
I love the new square design!
ReplyDeleteI would create a gorgeous gold smokey eye with this palette as I have green eyes and gold eyeshadow does make green eyes pop and really makes them stand out.Firstly I would prime my eyes of course using the MUA professional primer to make the colour appear more intense (although they are very pigmented as it is) and to make it last longer.I would go in with a flat brush using shade 8 to pack on the colour on my lid then I would add shade 3 onto the crease and use a blending brush to blend out any harsh edges.I would then use shade 1 for a highlighter,to make the eyes appear more bigger, brighter and more awake and I would use that on the inner corner of the eye and brow bone.Lastly with an angled brush I would use shade 2 and add it on my lashline as eyeliner and extend it outwards to give a cat eye look seeing as the eyeshadow will be quite neutral you could get away with that, and this step is optional but for me I will always apply mascara so I would go in with the brand new MUA Every Lash Volume&Lengthening mascara and that would be my finished look :)
